I had the privilege of meeting Mercedes McCambridge some years ago when she visited a local college campus. She had just written her autobiography in which she talked about her alcoholism. The students only knew her as the voice of the Devil in "The Exorcist." I stood up and said that I remembered her from Inner Sanctum and I Love A Mystery. It was a bit of a stretch but she blew me an appreciative kiss from the stage. I later got her autograph.
