Basil Rathbone. Detective. Word.

I say Watson... melba toast
When we old-time radio fanatics think of Basil Rathbone, we generally think of Sherlock Holmes; for Rathbone to most of us is the quintessential detective.

Found here is Holmes (oops, Rathbone) as a word detective, breaking down for us the origins of several things, words and various phrases  - all are most intresting and here for your downloading enjoyment.

From all indications these were done in the 1950's but there are no dates available anywhere that I could find.

It's a shame there aren't more of these available but I will keep an eye out for them.  These are gems and are a nice addition to any otr collection.

All files are very small and last only 2 to 3 minutes.
