I always enjoyed Dennis Day's Bert Gordon impression (which was uncanny enough to convince more than one historian that Bert Gordon was guesting in a certain episode, but I found a bunch of Benny scripts from Tobaccodocuments.org which confirm that it was Dennis). Other times (though rarely) a closing credit would even clarify that a specific impersonation (if not as clearly marked as such in the show's context) was done by Dennis (or by another actor, as for a show where Peter Lind Hayes impersonated Fred Allen, though need to check the script scans on that).

ReplyDeleteHi Andrew, thank you for the comment. I wholeheartedly agree that the Gordon impression is spot on.
