I wonder what songs they are talking about. I thought rock and roll created this type of dialogue, not music in 1939. Interesting.
Swing music, which came out about this time, was deemed "evil" by many of the crowd.I do believe this may be the earliest form of the phrase "punk singer", a term that became popular in the late 1970's with the advent of Punk music. Not sure what "cannibal music" refers to but I assume it was the sudden appearance of African-Americans on the popular music scene.
And who thinks of Fibber McGee and Molly as "tiresome?"
