  1. Within the last month my wife and I listened to this one:
53014. The Amos 'n' Andy Show. February 4, 1951. CBS net. Sponsored by: Rexall. Rehearsal recording with a studio piano, not the orchestra. See cat. #42507 for the broadcast recording of this program. The Kingfish and Andy start a parking lot, and wind up in the used car business! Will Wright, Jester Hairston, Jean Vander Pyl, Joe Connelly (writer), Bob Mosher (writer), Bob Ross (writer), Ken Niles (announcer), Charles Correll, Ernestine Wade, Lou Lubin, Johnny Lee, John Brown, Freeman Gosden, Griff Barnett (commercial spokesman). 28:26. Audio condition: Very good. Complete.

That was listed in your related file. I was also surprised he played in so many early Jack Benny shows.

  2. Yes I noticed he was everywhere... the list (above) isn't near complete as that catalog is just shows that guy had collected on 78 rpm's!!! (And even those, he weeded out the ones in not-listenable condition.)

I'll bet it's safe to say John Brown was in at least 1000 shows and probably more like 1500. He probably rivals the likes of William Conrad, Bea Benaderet and Parley Baer...

  4. There were a lot folks blacklisted. I wonder if he did radio in Canada or any place after that?

John Brown is a figure that needs to have his story told as he was a major star.

  5. He might not have been a major star, but, it would be good to have his story told. Other than Damon Runyon Theater he was mostly a supporting actor. But, very talented. Again, thanks for the photos as I was curious how he looked.
