Bad "sound people"

I enjoy both Boston Blackie and The Adventures of the Falcon.  Yes, both are far-fetched plot-holed yarns but fun, nonetheless.

I'm not going to quibble over the cartoon-like stories but have you listened closely to what the sound man/woman is doing?

If someone is running, it sounds like he/she/they is drumming two billiard balls against a table...
